Our Story
In 1989, Gary Wood, our founder, stepped away from his career at a major financial firm when he discovered the company was supporting organizations whose practices conflicted with his faith and moral convictions. Rather than compromise on his principles, Gary chose a new path—faith-driven investing and financial advising.
Drawing on years of experience in the financial industry, Gary founded BDC Capital Management with a clear mission: to provide independent, fee-only financial advice rooted in biblical financial principles. His goal was to help families make financial decisions that not only strengthened their future, but also honored their values.
That same spirit defines BDC today. As a fee-only fiduciary, we remain independent and free from outside shareholders or incentives. Over more than 35 years, we’ve grown from a one-person practice to a team of trusted financial advisors serving Richmond’s families, businesses, and church communities. We continue to work with the same heart Gary had from the start—helping clients steward their resources, live generously, and build legacies that last.
